Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, was born in Paris France of British parents Jacqueline Luesby Watson and Chris Watson both of whom were lawyers. As a child, she went to her school, the Dragon School in Oxfordshire. Emma was inspired to become an actor by the age of six. Through the years she was enrolled in the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts part-time school. She learned to sing, dancing and acting. At the age of ten she was involved and played the leading role in several Stagecoach School plays and productions. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2000) the 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling British book was released in 1999. Emma was discovered through Emma's Oxford Theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint after auditions of 8. They were chosen to play the 3 leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. The film's release Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (2001) was Emma's first cinematic screen appearance. The film set records for the opening day sales as well as opening week-end take-offs as well as being the most-grossing feature of the year 2001. Critics have praised both the film as well as the performance by three young actors.
